Not all IOBOs are equal
Others and myself have extended the idea of the IOBO to other variations in style and
in colors. Some of the variations in both are linked here. One example is an
IOBO Flymph designed and tied by Mark McMillan who lives in Colorado.
There's an: |
|
|
IOBO Loopwing. And an |
IOBO Spent Wing. |
Also, I sometimes tie both the |
|
|
IOBO Reversed and |
IOBO Humpy Reversed |
that is, with the wing over the hook bend.
And then there are:
|
|
IOBO Ant |
IOBO Caddis |
There is also a: |
|
|
"Wispy" IOBO and an |
Extended Body IOBO (EB IOBO) |
but they both require special hooks and usually two CDC feathers, so they are only marginally IOBOs.
And, inspired by a
"Double Humpy" I found along the Lamar River in YNP several years ago ( I didn't
know there were sharks in the Lamar ) and, in deference to
all you tennis players out there, I tied:
|
|
|
Double Humpy IOBO as well as a |
Double IOBO |
... these can be tied reversed as
well ... or as "Mixed Doubles" ... I'll leave those to your imagination.
They all require special hooks and usually two CDC feathers so they
are only marginally IOBOs.
All of them work. All of them take more time to tie then the originals.
None, in my opinion, are any more or less effective then a plain old IOBO.
