I've attached the hackle pliers to the free end of the yarn and begun to twist it. What we're going to do now is called "furling". It's difficult to photograph this well. What you want to do is to start twisting the yarn counter clockwise (as you're looking into this picture) until it is a rather tightly wound strand. The next picture illustrates a test for the degree of twist.
